Our Plan - Praire Grassland Restoration
Our Plan
Praire Grassland Restoration Species at risk identification, invasive species removal, controlled burn, restoration.
Restoring prairie grasslands is a valuable ecological endeavor. Here are the basic steps to restore degraded grasslands to conservation prairie:

Site Assessment: Identify the site characteristics and define goals for the restoration.

Vegetation Removal: Remove existing weeds and undesired vegetation from the site to prevent aggressive weedy species from out-competing native prairie plants.

Seed Selection and Planting: Choose a seed mix that closely mimics native prairie, providing habitat and food for native insects, including pollinators, and wildlife.

Management: Implement management practices such as controlled burns, grazing, or mowing to maintain the health of the prairie.

Monitoring: Regularly monitor the site to assess the success of the restoration efforts and make adjustments as needed.

Viable ecosystems are vital to both the health of humans and the planet. As a result, scientists are increasingly calling for us to rethink our relationship with nature. Viable ecosystems are not just the plants and animals that we see, but also what lies beneath our feet: the soil and microbes.
